Milan Skriniar is a new face at Paris Saint-Germain for the 2023-24 season. As a free agent, the Slovakian defender joined the French giants from Inter Milan and signed a five-year contract.

The 28-year-old has appeared in 13 matches across all competitions, which is a sufficient sample size to develop an opinion. Le Parisien chatted with Thomas Heurtaux, who previously played for Caen and Udinese.

Nonetheless, Heurtaux had some harsh words for the former Inter Milan captain. The Frenchman observes that he is not seeing the same thing.

He witnessed a player in Serie A.

“I’m going to be harsh,” Heurtaux remarked, “but I find him generally disappointing, and I think his start to the season is average.” “What he demonstrated at Inter was extremely powerful.” He is no longer Inter’s Skriniar. I’m having a terrible time adjusting to Paris. It’s frustrating because it’s capable of much more.”

Furthermore, Heurtaux explained why he considers Skriniar’s adaptability and performance to be disappointing.

“At Inter, he intervened at the right time, didn’t back down, started with the ball, liked to move forward, and did it very well,” he said. “Today, he should focus on purely defensive tasks because he is not at his level.”

“I was expecting something different. With his aggression and physical strength, [Skriniar] has all of the characteristics of a modern defender. In Paris, he appears to be having more problems on this level.”

Regardless of what the Frenchman says, manager Luis Enrique believes in Skriniar, and he is an important part of PSG’s defense. Currently, he and Marquinhos are the partnership that the Spanish manager is relying on to get this club into the UEFA Champions League knockout stage and to win the Ligue 1 title.
