Rangers are interested in Fluminense attacker Jhon Arias, but he is being pursued by Premier League clubs including West Ham United, Crystal Palace, and Wolves.

According to TEAMtalk, the Liverpool-linked Andre Trindade, who only this week explained why he rejected down a £26 million summer move to Anfield, is not the only Fluminense star who will be in great demand during the winter window.

Jhon Arias, a 26-year-old Colombia international, is a target for the Rangers.

Arias, a quick, silky right winger who carries the ball as if it were bonded to his foot with military-grade adhesive, has nine goals and 13 assists for Fluminense this season, which runs from spring to December in Brazil.

Could Arias be the answer to the Rangers’ long-standing right-wing issues? Though Philippe Clement’s team will have competition from a number of clubs with deeper funds from south of the border. West Ham, Crystal Palace, Burnley, and Wolves are among the clubs interested, as are Championship clubs Leicester City and Leeds United.

TEAMtalk does not say how much Fluminense will pay for Arias, who has a contract until 2026. Reports tying the forward to a move to Ibrox, on the other hand, could be soon debunked if Portuguese journalist Luis Pinto Coelho is true.

When Sporting Lisbon was linked earlier this year, Coelho informed Bola na Rede that the Copa Libertadores finalists were looking for £17 million for Arias. A fee that would be well in excess of what Rangers are willing to pay.

Nonetheless, reports of Rangers’ interest could indicate that the Glasgow giants are already planning backup plans if Abdallah Sima’s services are not retained. With his excellent form, the Brighton loanee has piqued the interest of clubs around Europe.

Scott Wright, too, has an uncertain future. Over the summer, Rangers accepted an offer from Turkish club Pendikspor.
