On the last drive of the Giants game, Packers coach Matt LaFleur criticises Joe Barry’s play calling.
Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Packers, expressed dissatisfaction with defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s playcalling in the final moments against the Giants.
The Green Bay Packers entered Monday Night Football as road favourites against the New York Giants, and just when it appeared like they had turned the corner following a 3-6 start to the season, they were plunged headfirst into
DeVito-mania. However, if you were to question Packers head coach Matt LaFleur about the final play calls made by defensive coordinator Joe Barry against Tommy DeVito and the Giants on Monday Night Football, he probably would only have a few choice words to say about how things went down.
After the game, Matt LaFleur told reporters, “We obviously gave up too many chunk plays, lost our leverage twice and gave up, like I said explosive plays,” according to Matthew Brown of Wisconsin Sports Heroics. LaFleur went on, giving a very direct explanation, saying, “Explosive plays lead to points… it was just bad ball.”
Yes, that pretty much covers everything. With a minute and a half remaining in the fourth quarter, the Giants took a 22-21 lead, giving the impression that the young, undrafted quarterback might not be able to handle the pressure.
Though DeVito was able to blast the Pack D for minor gains on the first three plays of the drive, the Packers defence did DeVito a favour by playing soft man coverage. Tommy DeVito then connected with Wan’Dale Robinson for a 32-yard pass, setting up New York to attempt a game-winning field goal.
