
Former NFL Player Ryan Mallett’s Cause of Death Confirmed as Drowning
Police in Destin, Florida verified former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett’s death on Tuesday night, citing an apparent drowning. His age was thirty-five.
First responders were summoned to the Destin, Florida beach just after 2:00 p.m. local time, according to a statement from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. The reason for the call was that someone had seen several persons in the water who were “struggling to make their way back to shore.”
According to authorities, Mallett “went under and lifeguards say he was not breathing when pulled out.”
Mallett was declared dead at the Destin Emergency Room despite the fact that “lifesaving measures were immediately undertaken,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Mallett was the head football coach of the White Hall School District in Arkansas, and they posted a notice of his passing on their official Facebook page on Tuesday.

Paul Duncan, a former NFL and Notre Dame player, passed away at the age of 35 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a run. On Tuesday, Matt Matthew’s former Texans teammate J.J. Watt posted on Twitter, wishing his friend a peaceful resting place.
Watt, 34, tweeted, “Horrible news to read about Ryan Mallett.” “Much too soon gone.”
According to Sports Illustrated, Mallett played in eight games over the course of three seasons for the Ravens, throwing for 648 yards and four touchdowns to three interceptions.
He was a standout prospect out of Texarkana’s Texas High School and won the 2010 Liberty Bowl offensive MVP award. Prior to being selected in the NFL draft, Mallett was later chosen to the 2009 and 2010 All-SEC second team.
