Premier League 2: West Ham United U21s vs. Crystal Palace U21s, Monday, December 18, 7 p.m. GMT


On Monday night, West Ham United U21s overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Crystal Palace U21s 5-1 thanks to five goals in the second half.

Jack Wells-Morrison’s penalty kick on minute twenty-two put the Hammers down, but they rallied for their sixth Premier League victory of the year after the interval.

Callum Marshall gave the Hammers the lead from the penalty spot with his 16th Premier League goal of the year, after Kaelan Casey headed in a lovely inswinging corner to spark the comeback.

After an hour, Wells-Morrison was dismissed for disobedience, giving Steve Potts’ team total control of the match.

Conor Coventry scored a magnificent fourth from distance with a well-executed first-time attempt, adding even more sweetness to the win.

Marshall later set up West Ham’s fifth goal late on, setting up a breathtaking break that Gideon Kodua was able to touch in.

The U21s are second in the Premier League and have gone 16 games without a loss across all competitions.

They are confident as they move into 2024.

“Go out and get a goal early on and we will win the game,” was the exhortation before the half. After the break, we had an early goal, which we just maintained to win.

Moore joined on a three-year professional deal that expires in June 2026 after leaving NIFL Premiership team Cliftonville over the summer.

After spending a pleasant first half of a year with the Club, the young Hammer is eager to advance in 2024.

“I’ve loved being at West Ham since the first day,” he continued. Many of the lads from Northern Ireland have contributed to my excellent adjustment.

“We will win the game if we score early on in the second half,” was the word before to the break. After the interval, our objective was to win quickly, and we just kept doing that.

Over the summer, Moore signed a three-year professional contract with Cliftonville, an NIFL Premiership team, through June 2026.

The youthful Hammer is eager to advance in 2024 and has enjoyed his first six months with the Club.

He went on, “I’ve enjoyed my time at West Ham from the very beginning! The fact that there are so many Northern Ireland-born lads here has made it easy for me to fit in.
