After missing the majority of the first half versus Alabama due to an ankle injury, Kalkbrenner of Creighton is back.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner returned to the eighth-ranked Bluejays´ game against Alabama at the start of the second half after injuring his right ankle.
Kalkbrenner turned his ankle while running back on defense seven minutes into the game. He went to the locker room for the rest of the half but was back on the court after doing some jogging and stretching drills.
The 7-foot-1 Kalkbrenner is the Bluejays’ second-leading scorer, two-time Big East defensive player of the year and one of the country´s premier rim protectors.
Elijah Pritchett, an offensive tackle, informed Alabama on Friday that he was going to the transfer portal, which was awful news. This season, he was a member of the line rotation and was the fourth-ranked tackle in the 2023 class. This created a gap for the Crimson Tide in a crucial area. On Saturday, though, the squad received a pleasant surprise when Prichett unexpectedly changed his mind.
December 4 marked the opening of the college football transfer portal, and the last two weeks have been quite exciting for fans of the game. Since the Crimson Tide are participating in the College Football Playoffs, the transfer portal hasn’t had a significant impact on them yet. But in an odd turn of events, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett of Alabama has chosen to leave the transfer portal and head back to Tuscaloosa, via On3 Sports.
“It is not in my best interest to transfer. I sincerely regret for any trouble caused. I’m completely confined. “Go Roll Tide!” Pritchett exclaimed to Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot-6, 312-pound tackle was a key member of the Crimson Tide’s special team and a rotational left tackle in every game during the previous campaign. In the end, true freshman Kadyn Proctor won the starting left tackle spot from him, but with JC Latham most likely leaving for the NFL Draft in the spring, Alabama will have another starting tackle spot open for Pritchett to contend for next season.
