Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy is scheduled to undergo surgery, according to a medical report.
McCarthy complained of stomach pain in the morning, according to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero. He was diagnosed with acute appendicitis after a thorough examination. “He is currently slated for surgery this afternoon, expected to be released later today.” He will most likely be back on Sunday because appendicitis surgery is minor and extremely safe.
During McCarthy’s absence, coordinators Brian Schottenheimer, John Fassel, and Dan Quinn will take over the team and guide them through practice sessions leading up to Sunday Night Football. Because he is the offensive play-
caller this season, his absence will disrupt practice. The team will be unprepared for the calls they will receive on Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys face tougher opponents in the coming weeks. The Cowboys have a stellar record so far this season, ranking first in points per game at 32.3 and fifth in yards per game at 380.4. The franchise is on the verge of securing a third consecutive playoff berth, but the road ahead will be difficult.
Regarding that, the head coach said, “I think that serves us very well because December football is something I’ve personally always enjoyed, and I think it’s a great indication of where you are as a team and what you need to do to get into the playoffs, and to be ready for the playoffs.” Will the team continue to perform as well as it has against these more difficult opponents?
