Packers’ Christian Watson, Jaire Alexander out for Giants game

GREEN BAY, Wis.—The Green Bay Packers announced an injury report on Saturday that declared wide receiver Christian Watson (who injured his hamstring late in the fourth quarter of the team’s

27-19 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday) out for Monday night’s game against the New

York Giants. Cornerback Jaire Alexander will also not play.

Prior to his injury, Watson had seven receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs. He has 28 catches for 422 yards and five touchdowns this season, including four touchdowns during the Packers’ current three-game winning streak.

“Christian plays a major role in our offence,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated on Saturday. I believe he’s finally found his rhythm. It took him a while to get going in our system this year, so (not having him) is clearly not fantastic. It’s unfortunate because he has been making so many amazing plays in the last few weeks. However, I’m happy with the other guys. They’ve come a long way, in my opinion, and we have enough of players who can fill in at other positions to help make up for that loss.

Alexander will miss a fifth consecutive game with a shoulder injury. The cornerback has played in just five games this season. He missed three games with a back injury before being sidelined with a shoulder issue.

Packers running back Aaron Jones (knee), safety Darnell Savage (chest) and cornerback Eric Stokes (hamstring) are questionable for Monday’s game. Linebacker Quay Walker (shoulder) is doubtful.

Walker played every defensive snap for the Packers (6-6) in the Chiefs game and has a team-high 92 tackles this season. Jones has sat out two consecutive games. Savage just returned to action on Sunday after missing five games with a calf injury.
