“Good guy” Dak Prescott leads the Cowboys into an MVP matchup with the Eagles and Jalen Hurts.
As we head into week 14 of the regular season, there’s a good chance that the NFL MVP competition has never been this tight before. In my opinion, a minimum of twelve players have the potential to be included in the MVP conversation, contingent upon the outcomes of the final month of the season. The head-to-head matchup between candidates will mean twice as much, which is why the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles game on Sunday is so fascinating.
Of course, there would still be a lot to be excited about going into this game given the rivalry between Dallas and Philadelphia and the fact that these two teams are among the top three in the NFC. Another layer to this intriguing matchup is added when you consider the Dak Prescott vs. Jalen Hurts matchup and how, if either of these two quarterbacks has a big game in a win, their MVP odds will probably shoot up.
Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts both had MVP-caliber performances in their season opener. With 374 yards and 3 touchdowns, Prescott completed 29 of 44 passes. Hurts completed 17 of 23 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns; in addition, he scored a touchdown on the ground for good measure. The most crucial statistic, of course, was that he won. When comparing Prescott against Hurts for the entire season, the raw numbers showed that Prescott had the better game. It’s actually quite simple to argue that Dak Prescott has the league’s best statistical record. And Dak’s Cowboys teammates are prepared to present that argument on his behalf.
Dallas safety Jayron Kearse said, “I haven’t been in any game like this where you know it’s been this close and two of the MVP front-runners,” according to Adam Schulz of Sports Illustrated. “Hurts is the name, but over the past few weeks, everything in the movie has pointed to Dak. Thus, the good guy is on our side.
According to Adam Schulz of Sports Illustrated, Dallas safety Jayron Kearse said, “I haven’t been in any game like this where you know it’s been this close and two of the MVP front-runners.” Although Hurts is the name, the last few weeks’ worth of the movie have shown Dak as the main character. Consequently, the good guy is on our side.
Dallas has bounced back from their November 5th loss to Philadelphia with a perfect 4-0 record, led by Dak Prescott, who has be. Prescott has completed 13 touchdown passes against just one interception in those four games, averaging 305 yards per game. The issue at hand pertains to the fact that none of those encounters were against a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
The Philadelphia Eagles fit that description as the reigning NFC Champions, so if Dak can play on Sunday Night Football at the same calibre as he did against Philadelphia a month ago, all of the Monday Morning Quarterbacks will probably be discussing how Dak Prescott is now the MVP to lose.
