The basketball team from Ohio State had won seven straight games going into Saturday night. They went to Penn State with the intention of snapping a nine-game Big Ten road losing run. They appeared to be about to, but they blew a huge lead.
In this game, the Buckeyes led by eighteen points at one point, but they let it all get away. The score was 83–80 vs Ohio State. Teams led by Chris Holtmann always appear to lose in those kinds of games. The basketball team from Ohio State is unable to win Big Ten games away from home.
I warned you all not to get too attached to this team just yet. It is a seasonal occurrence. Before the squad falters when the competition gets really good, Holtmann gets them to perform well in non-conference games. It has transpired in the past two years.
I refuse to get enthusiastic about this Buckeye squad until they stop losing games in December and January that they should win. When games are close, they don’t appear to have the mental toughness to prevail, particularly if their squad lacks Ohio State’s calibre of quality.
Despite shooting poorly, only going 4/11 from the field, Bruce Thornton led the squad in scoring with 17 points. This group obviously follows his lead. His poor shooting will prevent the Buckeyes from winning. The only person who genuinely takes constant action is him. All teams do is guard him when things become difficult.
