The Brisbane Broncos NRLW have signed Keilee Joseph for the next two seasons, making this the biggest NRLW signing for the 2024 season to date.
The Sydney Roosters, where the two-time NRLW Second Rower of the Year played for two seasons, including the team’s Premiership-winning victory over the St George Illawarra Dragons NRLW during the postponed 2021 season, will be losing to the new team.
I just wanted to be a part of it after watching how successful the Broncos were the previous season and what they accomplished, as well as the football culture and style,” Joseph remarked.
My boyfriend and I were flown up by Princey (Scott Prince) and the Broncos for a conversation, and everything they discussed made me want to return back home.
Being able to spend more time with my family, with whom I am very close, is truly a wonderful opportunity.
“They’re happy to have me back home, even though my dad is a Penrith fan, so I’m not sure if he’ll be wearing the colours.”
I haven’t had much time to think back on the past year because I was selected for the Jillaroos squad and played in my first Origin.
“Playing with Ali (Brigginshaw) on the Queensland team taught me a lot, and she’s been such a big support and mentor. I can’t wait to soak it all in in Brisbane, they’ve got some incredible experience.”
Speaking about her arrival, Broncos NRLW head coach Scott Prince expressed his belief that she will provide the team’s lineup with both offensive and defensive striking power.
“Having someone of Keilee’s calibre join the team as one of the league’s young stars is fantastic news for the Brisbane Broncos,” Prince remarked.
“She has demonstrated her ability to stand up when called upon and to seize every chance that has presented itself.
“She’s won a Premiership and has played for her state, her country and her heritage – and now she’s coming to play for her hometown, it doesn’t get more special than this.”
