His video announcement was classic Campbell style. In a 31-second clip that he uploaded, he can be seen celebrating with the faces of Josh Heupel, the head coach of Tennessee, and Nico Iamaleava, the rookie quarterback. The tweet that went with it contained no words and no image.

A year ago, Campbell made his choice between Tennessee and Florida and Florida State through the portal. In the preseason, he acknowledged that he wasn’t sure he wanted to make the official trip to see the Vols. However, he was impressed and convinced by what he saw during his in-depth tour of the programme and by the fact that there are several Waffle House locations close to Tennessee’s campus. In a subsequent tweet to his video, Campbell mentioned the well-known waffle chain.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Orlando native redshirted as a freshman in 2018 and made two starts in 2019 before spending his first five seasons at Miami. In 2020, Campbell made four starts; however, an injury kept him out of the 2021 season. Before departing Miami, he started every game in his final season as a left tackle for the Hurricanes.

This season at Tennessee, Campbell’s work ethic and personality made him a popular figure in the locker room. He also won over fans by blocking a Virginia play well outside the play in the team’s season-opening victory in Nashville.

After Tennessee defeated Kentucky without allowing a sack or any pressure, Campbell was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. He performed admirably in the victories over Texas A&M and South Carolina as well, recording no sacks or penalties.

At first, Tennessee believed that Campbell would only be joining the team for the 2023 season. However, prior to the season, Campbell learned that he could extend his contract for an additional year, which he now seems determined to use to rejoin the Vols.

Three of Tennessee’s best players from the 2023 campaign were recognised by being named to the Associated Press All-SEC teams, which were unveiled on Monday. After finishing second in the conference in sacks as a sophomore, defensive end James Pearce Jr. was the only player selected to the first team. Jaylen Wright, the running back, and Cooper Mays, the centre, were selected to the second team by the 14 SEC media members. Tennessee will take on Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day after finishing third in the SEC East with an 8-4 record during the regular season.
