There’s a good reason why the Red River Rivalry is among college football’s most recognisable rivalries.
Even though the Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma Sooners game in Dallas is unlikely to have any bearing on the College Football Playoffs, millions of fans will watch it. That was bad news for one Sooners supporter, who was seen crying in the third quarter, just after quarterback Quinn Ewers’ touchdown pass to wide receiver Ja’Tavion Sanders in the end zone gave Texas a four-point lead in the game.
“Texas up 28-0 and OU fans are in their feels,” wrote the official Twitter account of the Longhorn Network.
College football fans were quick to catch the Oklahoma fan clearing going through it and were merciless in their reaction:
“This is great stuff though,” Andrew Dyer wrote.
“Damn, my guy going through it,” laughed Clint Lamb.
“When you realize it was a bad idea to start drinking at 8 a.m.,” wrote Matt Scott.
“Hey, you get to watch [Oklahoma alumnus and current Carolina Panthers starting quarterback] Baker [Mayfield] tomorrow,” joked Bet Online.
The Longhorns led the Sooners, 28-0, midway through the third quarter. Texas entered the game as 9.5-point favorites over the Sooners.
