The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Phoenix Suns in their next game with the goal of improving their NBA In-Season Tournament status. LeBron James leads the Lakers offensively, which is not surprising. The NBA star, though, is suffering with a calf ailment that might prevent him from
playing on Tuesday night.
According to Kellan Olson, James is categorised as questionable for Los Angeles’ semifinal matchup against Phoenix. Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Anthony Davis are also expected to play.
In the In-Season Tournament, the Lakers lead the West Group A bracket with the best record. Los Angeles has not lost yet. However, the Suns have an opportunity to steal the victory and go on if the team’s main players are out.
With a better regular season record of 12-8, Phoenix is one game ahead of Los Angeles. The Suns are also plagued by injuries, as Bradley Beal has not been able to play for the squad. Still, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant are leading the Suns’ offensive assault.
In terms of scoring, the two superstars from Phoenix are in the league’s top 15. They have a chance to defeat the undermanned Lakers if their defence can hold up.
If LeBron James is sidelined for Tuesday night’s game, Los Angeles will need to find another method to score points. The 38-year-old is 14th in the NBA with an average of 24.4 points per game. If James’ calf doesn’t get better, hopefully Anthony Davis and company will be healthy and prepared to take over.
