On Sunday, Iowa received some much-needed good news after a disappointing game on Saturday night.

A bowl game against Tennessee in Orlando on January 1st was the reward given to the Hawkeyes.

Kirk Ferentz, the head coach of Iowa, stated, “Usually, you don’t get good news on Sunday when

Tennessee defeats UVA 49-13 at a packed Nissan Stadium | WJHL | Tri-Cities  News & Weather you lose.” That isn’t the case anymore. We received amazing news about being a part of a fantastic bowl game.

In the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis on Saturday night, Michigan shut out the Hawkeyes 26-0. Despite only managing seven first downs and 153 yards of offence, Iowa’s 10-3 record and reputation for reliable fan travel attracted the attention of the Citrus Bowl.

Iowa will participate in their third Citrus Bowl game; its most memorable moment was the 56-yard touchdown pass from Drew Tate to Warren Holloway on January 1, 2005, just before time ran out.

First and foremost, we’re happy to be performing live again. Really looking forward to returning to Orlando,” Ferentz remarked. “Very amazing bowl match. The guys are having an excellent time both on and off the pitch.”

Tennessee and Iowa have a 1-2 record, with the last meeting occurring in the 2015 Taxslayer Bowl. Josh Heupel, a native of Aberdeen, South Dakota, has the Vols at 8-4. Tennessee’s season record was 11-2.

The aerial Vols hold a 378-264 advantage over their opponents.

“The work Josh has done at Tennessee, and Central Florida before that, is just outstanding,” Ferentz stated. “Excellent programme. For us, it will be a huge struggle.

The extra month is advantageous in several ways, one of which is that it gives the younger players more practise time on the pitch.
