Following their victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are currently sitting at 9-3 for the 2023–24 NFL season, which puts them in second place in the NFC East. Earlier in the season, Dallas suffered one of its three losses to the Philadelphia Eagles; despite Prescott’s solid performance, the Cowboys were unable to overcome a challenging environment.
Prior to the Eagles’ game against the Cowboys in Dallas the following week, the team suffered their second loss of the season on Sunday at home against the San Francisco 49ers. As a result of the Philadelphia setback, renowned Cowboys fan and FS1 sports media personality Skip Bayless is thrilled about his team’s chances of winning.
Bayless recently shared his opinions about the showdown on his X account, which was once known as Twitter.
In fact, as the season approaches its final stretch, both the Cowboys and their Philadelphia rivals would have a 10-3 record. This is provided they manage to overcome their opponents. The Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Eagles appear to be leading the NFC at this point (though the Detroit Lions may have an opinion), and their early-season games against each other have produced some exciting contests.
It’s gotten strange that defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and head coach Brian Daboll of the Giants are allegedly at odds. New York chose to deny, deny, deny following recent reports of tension between the two coaches and rumors that both the team’s coordinators may soon lose their jobs. Deflect, deflect, deflect after that.
On the day of our first report, Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post shared several stories from players and staff refuting the notion of a rift. Last week, Daboll told the media that he had “respect” for Martindale and that “the biggest argument that Wink and I have had is who has the last piece of pizza.”
Daboll’s remarks are hard to accept at face value because he is known for operating something of a closed-door operation with the goal of removing outside distractions. Particularly after Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News described a press conference where general manager Joe Schoen and Daboll tried to act casual, but failed miserably.
Daboll joked that he and Martindale were big eaters for the second day in a row, saying, “I just met with Wink a little while ago.” We consumed donuts. After that, Schoen would frequently shift the blame for questions regarding Martindale’s future with the team to Daboll, saying that the latter had already spoken with the media about these matters when in fact he had not.
For the time being, it appears to be just opinion, but people in the room really seem to believe that Daboll and Martindale are at odds. Attempts by the Giants to sway the media’s perspective don’t appear to be working.
